This 10,000 s.f. design/build renovation of an existing but dated and dysfunctional free-standing office began with investigating what could be retained. We sought to optimally balance BARA’s thrifty budget, tight schedule, and functional space needs with the client’s desire to create a dramatically transformed space that was professional, inviting and green in such a way that it accurately expressed their brand and supported their mission. We created a refreshed exterior skin and added a large deck to provide a new indoor/outdoor space for members and to mask the parking garage below. In order to accommodate BARA’s desire to have both a private seminar room and a large space for its biggest social functions, we joined the two with a wood and glass sliding wall. The entry and common spaces received a complete makeover, dramatically improving the attractiveness and value of the building. The kitchen and lobby were re-envisioned to be exciting and attractive in order to encourage members to spend time at the office and to become a strong physical hub for the realtor community.
