We designed the original Japango Sushi restaurant back in 1999; it received multiple architecture awards and became one of Boulder's favorites. Fast forward to 2014 - the owner asked us to come back to create a remodel and expansion, incorporating a modern twist on traditional concepts. The all new space added exciting and comfortable seating areas, a new Pearl Street facade, dynamic lighting, a cylindrical jellyfish tank and beautiful creative finishes inspired by the Japanese sake box. The project entailed multiple challenges including working on a historic building, work in the Right-of-Way and keeping the existing restaurant open for all but two weeks during construction. Patrons love the new feel and the restaurant continues to be packed. (Furnishings by Eiko Okura Interior Design & Feng Shui)
